It might not suit everyone, but, in my opinion, the Betfred Cup group stages is the best time to visit Scotland - so much so that I’ve decided to stay up here for a few more days!
Dare I say it, the weather is usually good, it’s surprisingly cheap and you can cram several games into a relatively short space of time.
For tourists/saddos/enthusiasts (delete as appropriate) - you also sometimes ‘drop on’ with random b*llocks like Kylie Minogue performing live at Edinburgh Castle and singing ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ at 60,000 decibels when you’re staying just a five-minute walk down the road.
And on the rare, non-football days, you can also get around the country and take in some of the numerous spectacular sights which Scotland has to offer!
With all that in mind, I’ve opted to stay in the land of ‘Wee Jimmy Krankie’ - (has Billy Davies got another job yet?) for a few more days.
Provisional plans for more matches are as follows, though anyone will know during pre-season things such as a delayed train or a daft little club being unable to grow grass on their pitch (take a bow FC Halifax Town) means things can change at the drop of a hat.
Friday 19th July - Motherwell vs Morton
Saturday 20th July - Hamilton vs Partick
Sunday 21st July - Tynecastle vs Hearts XI
Rest of the week, TBC.
