Quiz: James Coppinger's team-mates

Having seen some thought-provoking ‘Name the former Doncaster Rovers player’ trivia on Twitter over the past few days, to pass some time I’ve compiled a list of statements relating to some of James Coppinger’s team-mates from his spell at the club (so far).

There are 11 players in total to guess, but can you figure out precisely who they are from the cluedo-type clues? I'll reveal the answers in a separate post tomorrow.

1) He’s scored past ‘keepers such as Jordan Pickford, Neil Sullivan and David James but didn’t quite hit the right note during his spell at DRFC. A Yorkshire-born boss once signed him and sold him during the same calendar year. He played alongside Michael McIndoe - but not at Doncaster!

2) An international; one of his first career games was, on loan, against DRFC whom he was then linked with a move to the following summer. He eventually signed several years later after which he’d twice been relegated from the Championship. He’s an old team-mate of one of the answers in this quiz.

3) He’s travelled the world, was once taken on trial by a former England boss, and even scored in a Play-Off Final, but his spell at DRFC was a disaster. Jamie Cureton, Marlon King and Gary Taylor-Fletcher; three old team-mates, were more prolific than him.

4) Grant McCann was his boss but his best days were under another former DRFC manager. He’s played alongside Adam Hammill and Rickie Lambert, amongst others, and his final appearance during one season saw Wayne Rooney in the opposition line-up!

5) This international has shared a dressing room with names such as Samir Nasri, Dimitri Payet, Djibril Cisse and Fabien Barthez despite never appearing in the Premier League. His time at DRFC could be considered as a bad ‘experiment’...

6) A former international who has since gone into management. He played alongside John Oster, Kevin Ball, Marcus Stewart, Don Hutchison and Paul Gascoigne, but never for either Newcastle United or Sunderland.

7) He’s survived a notorious ageing boss, played in more than one country but has never won promotion. His DRFC debut ended in a win, whilst Charlie Adam, Kasper Schmeichel and Jamie O’Hara are amongst those he’s played alongside.

8) He wasn't capped internationally but this guy once played against Ronaldo (from Brazil). Two of his former team-mates locked horns in a World Cup Final, but he was more accustomed to playing with characters such as Lee Tomlin, Shefki Kuqi and Dean Windass.

9) He’s been sat on a bench with a World Cup winner, played alongside Tom Ince and someone who is a regular at Aston Villa nowadays, whilst Adam Le Fondre and Nathan Ellington are amongst his ex-team-mates.

10) This performer, who played at Wembley with one employer but endured a club-record losing streak at another, featured in the same team as young stars including Matt Ritchie, Charlie Taylor and Tom Ince at different stages of his career.

11) This tormentor, who scored both for and against DRFC, never received a full international cap but played under two managers who later took charge of their country as well as a graduate of Wimbledon’s infamous ‘Crazy Gang’ team.

GOOD LUCK!
