Former scholars round up (06/09/20)

It's been a busy past week for many of the former Doncaster Rovers scholars who've either been in FA Cup and pre-season action.

Cody Prior (right) was on the score-sheet for Sheffield.

Starting at Sheffield FC, Cody Prior was on target in their 2-2 draw with Swallowsnest on Saturday. The 20-year-old will be hoping to bag again when they travel to Holbech United in the FA Cup Qualifying Round next weekend.

Elsewhere in the cup, Morgan James came on as a substitute as AFC Mansfield saw off local rivals Sherwood last week to set up a trip to the seaside where they'll face Cleethorpes on Saturday 12th September (3.00pm). The Owls have both Rieves Boocock and Harry Middleton in their ranks and completed their pre-season campaign with a thumping 5-0 win over Gainsborough Trinity - a game which apparently saw 'A.Trialist' red carded for the visitors in the very first minute! James Leverton was involved for Trinity.

Brad Grayson played 70 minutes as Frickley held Mickleover, who included Mason Warren - someone who was in Rovers' ranks up to Under 16s level, to a 1-1 draw at Westfield Lane. The Blues are next in action against Alfreton on Wednesday night.

At Belper, Craig Nelthorpe has got some minutes under his belt ahead of the new season - featuring in recent draws against Stalybridge and Trafford. His younger brother, Liam Nelthorpe, is nowadays playing for at North Ferriby in the NCEL DIvision One.

Stalybridge (mentioned above) will have their FA Cup Qualifying game at Stocksbridge Park Steels shown live on the BBC Sport website next weekend - therefore it could mean some publicity for Reece Fielding, who is on the payroll at Bracken Moor.

Mitchell Lund was in action in Bradford Park Avenue's 5-1 win at Thackley yesterday, but there wasn't any such luck for Rossington Main (who have Jack Watson, Cameron Barnett and Elliott Walker in their ranks), as they went down 4-1 at Hemsworth. Staveley (who came name Matty Davies, Matt Parkin, Joe Pugh and Myron Gibbons amongst their former DRFC scholars) also went down 2-1 away to Carlton Town.

If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of any of the other lads who are still playing, get in touch and I'll be more than happy to give them a mention.
